■南京初訪問１

町中に緑も多い南京市街。数字は信号が変わるまでの残り時間を示し、大変わかりやすい。

この度の南京訪問記事と一緒に読んでいただきたいと思います。
この原稿は前回初めて南京に出かけた去る5月14日に書いたままブログにアップしていなかった原稿なのです。（記：2005年10月31日）

いま、上海から成田への機中にあります。
これまで７０回以上も中国を訪れながら、何故か「南京訪問」の機会がありませんでした。この街は第二次大戦中の日本軍による市民虐殺という過去の経緯から最大の反日拠点ともいえる所ですし、親しい中国人たちもなるべく触れないようにしていますから、仕方がないといえばそれまでです。


それがなんとよりにもよってこの度の反日運動真っ盛りの時期に、PAOS上海（現地法人）から「どうしても先方のクライアントのトップが、中西先生を迎えて新しいプロジェクトの調印式をやりたいとの要望なので何とかして貰えないか？」と要請と言うよりは懇願がありました。スケジュール上少しの調整で土日をつぶせば可能そうでしたので詳細も良く認識しないままに、思い切って南京まで出かけることになったのです。


朝９時に家を出て成田エクスプレスに飛び乗り、先方が用意してくれたチケットで土曜日の成田から朝便を利用して、上海空港に着いたら待っていた車でそのまま南京に向かいました。ホテルに着いたら夜の９時でしたので、丁度移動に１２時間ついやしたことになります。


上海〜南京間など地図上で見ると大した距離でもないと漠然と考えていましたが、さすが中国大陸、生やさしいものではありませんでした。この区間は、丁度今高速道の建設真っ最中で、完成すれば片側４車線の堂々たる自動車道が出来、制限速度時速１２０ｋｍの乗用車で走れば２時間半位で行ける事になるのだそうです。しかし今はまだ工事中の道を右に左に徐行運転も繰り返しながらのドライブでしたから5時間以上もかかり、結構疲れました。


着いたら夕食もそこそこに「医学マッサージ？」なるものに連れて行ってもらいましたが、ここでのマッサージ師は全員正規の勉強をした医者免許所持者なのだそうで、全ての治療師が全盲の人たちでした。


マッサージ好きの私もこうした種類の施療を受けたのは初めての経験でしたが、頭の先から足の先までそれはなかなか見事なものでした。ただその夜は揉み返しというより、身体中が異常に温かくてほとんど眠れないままに朝を迎えてしまいましたが、不思議に翌日は一日中眠くなることもありませんでした。
